Alejandra Regalado

Alejandra Regalado is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, TX, whose work spans photography, video, and mixed media. Her practice is rooted in the intersection of body, memory, and place, and is deeply informed by her lived experiences with chronic pain and sleeplessness. Through her art, Alejandra explores how the body serves as both an archive and a vessel—holding onto personal and collective memory and bearing the weight of identity across time and space.

Her work has been widely exhibited across the U.S. and Mexico. Notable venues include the National Museum of Mexican Art (Chicago), CUE Art Foundation (New York), Houston Center for PhotographyGalería de la Raza (San Francisco), Colegio de México, Boise State University, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, and Big Medium (Austin). In addition to institutional exhibitions, she has brought her work into community-centered spaces and Mexican consulates throughout the U.S., fostering dialogue across borders and audiences.

Alejandra has received multiple awards and grants in recognition of her work. She was selected for the 2024 Texas Biennial and the 2022 New York Latin American Art Triennial. She is a recipient of grants from the California Arts Foundation and the New York Council for the Arts and was awarded First Place in the Professional Photographer category at the Festival Internacional de la Imagen in Mexico.
